capgras & cotard

Name: Capgras & Cotard

Species: Construct (Category IV?) & Human (Undead)

Age: Unknown & ~30's (at death)

Birthday: Doesn't Remember

Pronouns: She / They (both)

Orientation: Unlabeled

Job: Doesn't Remember

Role: Plot Catalyst / Protagonist

A construct and a corpse woke up to discover that they're somehow glued together. After this realization, they started accusing each other of identity theft. Capgras thinks Cotard stole her body, Cotard thinks she is who she is and Capgras is someone else. Their contrasting personalities make it harder for them to cooperate with one another. They do agree on one thing, though: They should find out the answers to their questions very soon, because both of them feel a little more exhausted with each passing day...like they weren't supposed to be alive in the first place.

personality

Capgras is a short-tempered, pessimistic, and abrasive construct. Despite having not a lot of memories, she seems to be very aware of how people act, and bases her judgements on careful observations...usually with a tinge of distrust. Her short temper can result in violence, but she usually doesn't get into physical fights if it's not necessary. She will beat you down verbally if possible, though. She's not much for affection, but those she trusts (even a little) she wouldn't want to get hurt. Cotard is, unfortunately, not one of them. Yet.

On the other hand, Cotard is a nervous wreck with a small optimistic streak. She's prone to devolving into anxiety if things get even a bit hectic, though she manages to talk herself out of it by moving forward. Because yes, while she is scared, she's also hard to dissuade when she needs to do something. Probably has something to do with her not being able to die...She's also generally friendlier to talk to than Capgras, and the only person she's seen absolutely loathing is Capgras herself.

In the short time they're stuck together, it's rare to see Capgras and Cotard getting along. If they ever do, though, they're actually nigh unstoppable. Capgras's anger and Cotard's will to keep moving makes for a determined duo who screams sometimes. Shame that they keep bickering with each other all the time.

author's notes

Well, there they are, my out-of-nowhere favorites. A lot of this world's lore is actually some contrived reason to explain Capcot's existence. That, and other thematic stuff of course. But yes, I really love this fellow and I'm very excited to share more about them!
